1952

Paul Goda, S.J. [LibArts] taught law for 40 years (1969–2009) at the Santa Clara University School of Law. This past August, he was honored for his service when the gardens around that university’s new law school building were named the Goda Gardens.

1981

Sandra Ladi Adum [GradSFTV] is a professor of broadcast journalism at Ahmadu Bello University, in Zaria, northern Nigeria.

Karla (Minor) Domier [LibArts] was named Teacher of the Year for the San Marino Unified School District this past May. In her 39th year as an educator, Domier teaches first grade at Carver Elementary School. She attended San Marino USD schools herself when she was growing up.

1985

Kim (Durham) O’Neill [SciEng] was appointed assistant dean of the Kutztown University College of Business in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. She previously was the director of Undergraduate Programs and Accreditation at the University of Washington Bothell, in Bothell, Washington.

1991

Janelle (Rinnan) Saucedo [BCLA] was appointed chief of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division of the Hawai‘i Department of Health in June 2019.

1987

Julie Joyce [CFA] was named senior curator at the ArtCenter College of Design Exhibitions Department in September. The ArtCenter is based in Pasadena, California. Joyce previously was curator of Contemporary Art at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art in Santa Barbara, California.

1991

Bruce Gonzalez [BusAdm, BusAdm ’95] was named vice president and controller at Pelican Products in Torrance, California, this past August. Pelican produces high-performance protective cases, coolers, flashlights and other items.

1992

Jason Bentley [CFA] stepped down in August 2019 as music director and host of “Morning Becomes Eclectic” at KCRW, the NPR-affiliated radio station based at Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, California.”

1993

Shannon Ryan [CFA] was named president of marketing for ABC Entertainment and Disney Television Studios in April 2019. She had been chief marketing officer for the Fox Television Group since 2015.

1994

Samantha (Reams) McCarthy-Lurie [LibArts] became the drama director and instructor for Lakewood High School in Lakewood, California, after teaching English for 25 years. She also earned a CTE credential in arts, media and entertainment.

1996

Andrew Pulver [BCLA] was named superintendent of education of the Los Alamitos Unified School District in in Los Alamitos, California, in May 2019.

2001

Kevin Baxter [GradEduc] left his post as superintendent and senior director of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles school system this past June. His new post is as chief innovation officer for the National Catholic Educational Association in Arlington, Virginia.

Luis Garcia [BCLA, GradEduc] is director for programs and services at the Weingart Center in Los Angeles, a service center on L.A.’s Skid Row for homeless men and women. He gave the keynote address at the 56th Commencement Exercises of Rio Hondo College in Whittier, California, in May 2019. He earned an Ed.D. in educational leadership for social justice at LMU.

2003

Laura Liguori [CFA] reprised the role of Lilya Brik this past October in the New York premiere of Murray Mednick’s “Mayakovsky and Stalin.” Liguori originated the role in 2018 in a production at the Lounge Theatre in Los Angeles.

2004

Amy (Caton) Polverini [SciEng] was named director of breast surgery at the Huntington Cancer Center of Huntington Hospital, in Pasadena, California, this past April. She was first introduced to the hospital as a volunteer in high school.
 

2006

Christopher Enegren [SciEng] was elected to the Moorpark City Council in December 2018.

2009

Catherine Abalos [BCLA, CFA] graduated from the University of San Francisco with a master’s degree of fine arts in writing. She received the Graduate Student Leadership Award for her work with three student organizations, as well as a scholarship through Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation.

Julio Tellez [GradEduc] was named principal of Armenian Sisters Academy of Los Angeles, in Montrose, California, this past June.

2011

Ikaika Aki [SciEng] joined the LMU men’s and women’s water polo programs as assistant coach in July 2019. He enjoyed a stellar career as a member of the team from 2007–10. In his senior year, Aki was named AWPCA Honorable Mention All-American and he was the WWPA Player of the Year. He was named to the second team all-NCAA Tournament roster, and he still holds several all-time LMU program records.

Traci-Lynn Hirai [SciEng] is a fourth-year resident at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha. Next year, she will join CHI Health Clinic Lakeside in Omaha, where she will work in obstetrics and gynecology with John Cote ’91 [SciEng].

2012

Katie Convoy [CFA] was named a member of the Board of Trustees of Girls, Inc. Carpinteria, in Carpinteria, California, this past August. She is director of annual giving at the Cate School, also in Carpinteria.

Chloe Pourmorady [CFA], singer, songwriter and violinist, released a debut album titled “Begin Majesty” that includes lyrics in Farsi, Hebrew, Ladino and English. The songs are based partly on Jewish prayers and Persian poetry.

2013

Angelica (Cadiente) Kelly [BusAdm] is the author of “Kombucha Crafter’s Logbook: A Journal to Track & Record Your Kombucha Home Brews.” The book evolved from her YouTube channel with instructions for brewing Kombucha that she launched in 2017.

Kelsey Taylor [SFTV] directed “Alien: Specimen,” one of six short films created as part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the 1979 science fiction-horror film “Alien.” Taylor’s short was released in April 2019.

2014

Chase Klaus [GradEduc] was sworn in this past July as a new member of the Peoria Public Schools board in Peoria, Illinois. He won his seat in an election in April 2019.

2016

Hannah Tedrow [LibArts] is head coach of the volleyball team at Flintridge Sacred Heart High Academy in La Cañada Flintridge, California. She helped lead the LMU volleyball team to NCAA appearances in three of her four years as a team member and was an AVCA honorable mention All-American in 2014.
 

2018

Veronica Alvarez [GradEd], who earned an Ed.D. in leadership and social justice at LMU, was named director of the Community Arts Partnership Program at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), in Santa Clarita, California, in July 2019.

Natalie Sharp [CFA] landed a recurring role as Anna on the Fox Network’s “BH90291,” a reboot of “90210.” The new show debuted in August 2019.

Rebecca Bergin [GradBusAdm] founded 4 Oranges, a management consulting firm that focuses on marketing, finance and operations and specializes in working with small businesses. She launched the firm, which is based in El Segundo, California, in 2017.
