Keane ’96, a frequent contributor to LMU Magazine, is the literary editor of America magazine and the author of “Reading Culture Through Catholic Eyes: 50 Writers, Thinkers & Firebrands Who Challenge & Change Us.” His essay on exorcism, “Hunting Demons,” appeared in the winter 2023 issue (Vol. 11, No. 2) of LMU Magazine.

Diane Krieger

Diane Krieger, a frequent contributor to LMU Magazine, is a Los Angeles-based freelance writer whose work has appeared in publications at Tufts University, Johns Hopkins University, Caltech and The Idaho Statesman, where she was the resident philharmonic and theater critic. Her article titled “China’s Migrant Mothers” appeared at the LMU Magazine website in October 2024.

Zara Alavi is associate professor of physics in the LMU Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering. Her areas of expertise are biophysics and biochemistry, including polymer physics, experimental biophysics, and material science.

Dana Gioia

Dana Gioia is a poet, essayist, and critic and the author of five collections of criticism and six books of poetry, including “99 Poems: New & Selected” and “Meet Me at the Lighthouse.” Gioia is the former chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts and former Poet Laureate of California. He was interviewed about beauty and Catholic arts and writers in the summer 2014 issue of LMU Magazine (“Disturbing Arts: A Conversation With Dana Gioia”).
