Justin Levitt
ContributorJustin Levitt, the Gerald T. McLaughlin Fellow at the LMU Loyola Law School and a frequent contributor to LMU Magazine, is a constitutional law expert who served from 2021–22 as the White House’s first senior policy advisor for Democracy and Voting Rights. He also has been deputy assistant attorney General I the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Jim Newton
ContributorJim Newton is the author of “Man of Tomorrow: The Relentless Life of Jerry Brown” and has written books about U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren and President Dwight Eisenhower. Newton was a reporter, bureau chief and editorial page editor with the Los Angeles Times. He is currently working on a book that is both a biography of Jerry Garcia and reflection on the 1960s-era counterculture, scheduled for publication in fall 2025. Her “Press Forward,” about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on journalism, appeared in the summer 2021 issue (Vol. 10, No. 1) of LMU Magazine.
Alejandro Poli ’93
ContributorAlejandro Poli ’93 is an Los Angeles-based artist, illustrator, curator and entrepreneur who works under the name Man One. His art has been exhibited in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, The Getty, the Pasadena Museum of California Art, LACMA and elsewhere. Poli also founded Crewest Gallery in Los Angeles to legitimize graffiti art and provide a place for graffiti artists to showcase their work. Poli earned a bachelor’s degree in studio arts in the LMU College of Communication and Fine Arts.
