Severiano Rodarte [LibArts] was given the 2017 Lifetime Achievement award by Los Abogados, the Hispanic Bar Association of Maricopa County, Arizona, at its 41st Anniversary Gala in Phoenix in October 2017.

1975
Anthony Gonzales [LibArts], who writes under the pen name of A.J. West, recently published his second book, “This Valley of Tears,” a short philosophical and theological treatise on the origins, meaning and value of suffering.

Michael Lawson [LibArts] was named president and CEO of the Los Angeles Urban League, the L.A. chapter of the National Urban League, in March 2018.

1976
Philip Toomey [LibArts, Law ’79], who works in the El Segundo, California, office of Leech Tishman, a legal services firm, is the West Coast business and employment client relations partner. He manages California business, labor and employment matters for the firm. In January, he was named a 2018 Southern California Super Lawyer by Southern California Super Lawyers Magazine.

1977
Peter Siggins [SFTV], an associate justice on the California First District Court of Appeal, Division Three, was named the 2018 ADG Man of the Year this past March by the LMU Alpha Delta Gamma fraternity.

1978
William Lalicker [LibArts] co-edited “Contingency, Exploitation, and Solidarity: Labor and Action in English Composition,” which examines working conditions for adjunct faculty in university and college departments of English. The book was published in November 2017 by CSU Open Press and University Press of Colorado.

Bernie Sandalow [LibArts], a member of the LMU Athletics Hall of Fame, was honored at a men’s home basketball game vs. Pepperdine by LMU Athletics for his 41 years of service as play-by-play announcer for men’s basketball games.

1982
Diane (Chavez) Solis [LibArts], a science and technical writer by trade, is also a poet whose book of poetry, titled “ART SPIRITS,” was published by Finishing Line Press in May 2018. Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, an annual literary award for poetry, fiction and nonfiction published in magazines or by small presses.

1996
Christine Giunta-Mayer [CFA] was named the 2017 VolleyballMag.com boys high school coach of the year. Her team, Glenbard West, located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago, compiled a 2017 record of 41–1 and was unbeaten in 2016.

1997
Erualdo Gonzalez [LibArts] is an associate professor of Chicana/o Studies and published a book in 2017 titled “Latino City: Urban Planning, Politics and the Grassroots.”

Anthony Napolitano [BusAdm, Law ’03] and Kimberly (Beach) Napolitano [BusAdm ’99, Law ’03], who are married to one another, were admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States in October 2017.

1999
Stacie Neroni [Law] joined Nelson Hardiman, a health care law firm in Los Angeles, in February 2018. She concentrates on regulatory and business issues for health care providers.

Christiane (Hoffman) Frank [LibArts] and Greg Frank were married on Sept. 30, 2017, at the North Chapel on Liberty Station in San Diego. Kimberly Fritzer Wakefield [SFTV ’02] was the bridesmaid and Kevin Fleming [LibArts] was the groomsman.

2002
Samia Margaret was born to Jessica Evans and Anthony Brenneman [CFA] on Sept. 22, 2017.

Caspian was born to Margaret and Blair Kroeber [CFA] on June 30, 2017.

Rowan Clare was born to Deirdre (Crampton) Perez [CBA] and her husband, Roger, on Nov. 16, 2017. They look forward to continuing their travel adventures with Rowan and big sister Quinn, 5.

Chelsea (Kalama) Kingma [SciEng] founded Mamalani, a product line of natural body and skin care. She and her husband, Eric, have three children, Poema, 9, Waimanu, 7, and Kawaipolani, 2, and live in Hawaii.

Ka’imihanaokalani Georgina was born to Carly (Mounts) Smith [LibArts] and her husband, Bryan, on Jan. 19, 2018. Ka’imi joins her brother Thatcher in a new sibling rivalry.

Wilson Edward was born to Nicole (Wilson) Pontius [LibArts] and her husband, David, on June 5, 2017.

2009
Hollander Nicole was born on Sept. 24, 2017, to Erin (Wilson) Berger [CFA] and her husband, Pieter. Their son, Seamus, was born in 2015.

2010
Sarah Nichole Lopez [LibArts] married Tyler Catalano in a Celtic ceremony at the North Columbia Schoolhouse in Nevada City, California, on Oct. 7, 2017.

2011
Tibor Forai [SciEng], who was a member of the men’s water polo team as an undergraduate, is a dentist and joined the Dr. Bill Dorfman Century City Aesthetic Dentistry practice in Los Angeles in October 2017.

Amanda Ito [BusAdm] and Louis Sergi [LibArts] were married on Oct. 22, 2016, in El Segundo, California.

2015
Shannon O’Brien [LibArts] is working in Tacna, Peru, at Colegio Miguel Pro as a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps.

2016
Michael Busse [BusAdm] is working in Chicago with the Interfaith Housing Development Corp. as a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps.

2018
Octavia Bray [GradSFTV], a showrunner’s assistant on “BoJack Horseman,” was selected as one of eight participants in NBC’s 12-week Writers on the Verge program in October 2017. Those selected learn how to develop scripts and pitch ideas to TV executives, and they receive feedback and mentoring from industry professionals.
